Gathering for Continuing Education

17-21 May 2017 – Ubud, Bali

I am delighted to offer this workshop for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander GPs and non vocationally registered (non VR) doctors.

The gathering is proposed as an initiative to provide  continuing education of the highest standard,  a culturally safe and affirming forum for collegiate support and an important opportunity for rest and rejuvenation in a beautiful location.

The topic of focus for the first gathering will be eye health. There will be a comprehensive session held on each on each of the three days delivered by Opthalmologist registrar, Dr Kris Rallah-Baker. The sessions will focus on eye issues common in GP land with the outcomes being increased knowledge, skills and confidence when responding to medical conditions relating to the eye.

The sessions will be highly interactive and co-implemented with pre and post workshop activities to maximise learning outcomes and enable participants to accrue continuing professional development points from their respective Colleges.

Please note a private villa has been booked for the group and a maximum of 20 rooms are available for all attendees including additional family members. Please register your interest early to secure your place for the Gathering.


Participants will need to arrange their flights to/from Denpasar airport in Bali, travel documentation and insurance. It is recommended that a participants passport has a minimum of 6 months validity at the time of travel. It is also recommended that participants purchase travel insurance at the time of booking the workshop and flights.

The gathering will  include:

  • Education sessions on eye health held each morning deliverd by Dr Kris Rallah-Baker
  • Private transport to/from airport
  • Massage on arrival and another during your stay
  • 4 nights and 3 days accommodation at a private villa in Ubud, Bali
  • Nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner daily
  • Half day Ubud tour
  • Cooking class
  • Child care arranged as required

Participant cost: $2360 per participant.

Guest/Partner cost: $650 per person. This cost includes shared accommodation, all meals, transfers and participation in all activities other than the educations sessions.

Children are also welcome subject to availability.The cost for a child sharing a workshop participant’s room is $530. The cost for a child in a separate room is $900 for sole occupancy and $600 for a shared room.
